100th Anniversary Kiwanis Convention

June 24-28th, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS! What a great feeling to have attended such a memorable convention, starting with the opening ceremony attended by some 7000 Kiwanians and guests having traveled from all over the world; including 1500 representing Key Clubs, Circle K ...young people having proudly marched into the Hall displaying their national flags in an Olympic manner, Kiwanians of all ages sharing a common goal of commitment to serve the Children of the world augurs very well for the next 100 years.

Club report November 18th, 2015:

  3. Registration, Kiwanis Store, International Mall - Exhibit
    Invitation to contribute to Time Capsule - Not too many entries, some nil.
    KLM - Photo and caption Cheque presentation to WIAIH...  Year 2015

  4. Opening Ceremony- 7:30 pm, Thursday  25th:
    Theme First 100 years - A living timeline through our past featuring a TIME MACHINE in the background monitoring every decade with a brief stage show  including Choreography; All actors being  Kiwanians, e.g. 1915/24 - John and Betty wearing period costumes, both put on a Star performance. Each skit for the other 9 decades  delivered a message while providing great entertainment.

    New approach for the choice of a Keynote Speaker-  Marilyn

    Major Pitch for Eliminate Project-  Breaking news from Pres. John  Button; the funds raised had reached  $88. millions; then President of Key Club  Int'l Maria Palazzolo, spoke passionately telling us that over the past five years, they  raised  $4 million for Eliminate and concluded by announcing a new pledge for another $3 million to save the lives of children.

  5. Next morning Business Session- 9:00am to 2:00 pm  .. over 2000 delegates
    ECC & Caribbean’s- front row location Method of voting- dry run - John Button’s humour, patience and ability to control a 5 hour meeting.

    Proposed Amendments:
    - 9 Dues + $10 not adjusted since 2003 - $ 3.9 m cuts
    - Others: K Magazine or Webb Convention Highlights

  6. Closing Celebration:  The Next 100 years -

    WHAT IF DREAMS:  first K Club on Mars, ended world hunger
    We ended homelessness, we made impossible = possible
    We had World Peace and Kiwanis did it.
    We helped a future Kiwanian cure cancer
    We opened 1 million Clubs
    We made water safe for all to drink
    We made all kids Happy, Healthy and Secure
    We made Friendship, College, Magic, Playgrounds, service
    WHAT IF WE MADE 'WHAT IFS ' HAPPEN!

    Now for part of the new philosophy for the next 100 years, back to Marilyn with THE FORMULA. In his closing address Pres, John Button's urges all Kiwanians to continue helping children because there are so many that we have not yet reached.

  7. Toronto introduced their city as the Host City for the 2016 Int'l Convention, another 100th Anniversary for the Charter of the Hamilton Club in  1916. Promote attendance.......
