Committees: [need these from you]
For over 60 years I have been an activist and an advocate for the less fortunate, both in my paid positions and in my volunteer work. My consumer advocacy at Ville Marie Social Services-CCC opened the door to broadcasting, with CJAD, CFCF, and a weekly contribution to CBC's "Home Run."
I have worked in healthcare, minority rights, fundraising and event planning. In 2012 I founded Seniors Action Quebec, where I remain an active volunteer, and I serve on several boards, including engAGE: Centre for Research on Aging at Concordia University.
Before COVID-19, Andy Sarrasin asked me to meet with him and Christian Aubert to talk about Kiwanis. What stayed with me was learning that every cent raised through fundraising went straight back into the community. I supported the work they were doing for children, for the organizations serving them, and for their families.
I met many devoted volunteers who had given years to Kiwanis Lakeshore Montreal.
I also saw firsthand how much people look forward to the Nuts & Cakes campaign, especially seniors in residences, who can do their gift shopping right in their own lobby rather than venturing out. A good quality gift at a reasonable price is the perfect answer for many, and I suspect a few treats find their way into personal collections as well.
I see the hours our board members put into the annual Golf Tournament, and I am privileged to be a small part of this remarkable team. I am blessed to know this great group and to be part of an organization with international reach.
