TEAM KUNECO, Défimonde Program

The Défimonde program

The Défimonde program is a cultural program at the school for students who want to enrich their personal culture, broaden their openness to the world, travel, invest in the well-being of others, carry out large-scale projects and follow the path of a committed citizen.

KUNECO

Our team name, KUNECO, is derived from esperanto. I chose it because "Kune" means "togetherness", and "eco" references not only the ecological aspect of our project that we wanted to respect, but we also hope that the echoes of our project will resonate within you.

Chloe, Emma & Samuel

Chloe Guan is a grade 11 student at the Collège Sainte-Anne of Lachine, in the Défimonde program. Currently serving on the Youth Advisory Board of Pointe-Claire (amongst other youth councils), she will be attending Marianopolis College this fall in the Arts & Sciences program.

Emma Manuel is a grade 11 student at the Collège Sainte-Anne of Lachine, in the Défimonde program. She will be attending Jean-de-Brébeuf College this fall in the Social Sciences program, and she is currently a tutor and a cashier at a grocery store.

Samuel Rochette is a Social Studies teacher at the Collège Sainte-Anne of Lachine, where he teaches Contemporary World Studies and Financial Education for students in secondary 5.

Multifaceted Community Development

From March 10th to 25th of this year, our team (KUNECO) had the privilege to travel to Cambodia, where we established a project based on international cooperation and sustainable development.

This initiative is comprised of:

Construction Section We built a playground for a school in a rural area in the Trei Nhoar community!

Documentary Creation We created a documentary touching the subject of anti-personnel landmines in Cambodia, as well as the consequences it caused on civilians.

Cultural Immersion We participated in lots of culturally immersive activities such as visiting museums, cooking, and dancing!

This wonderful experience is one that we will forever cherish, and we cannot wait to share it with you!
